An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty Thailand

An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is a type of plastic surgery designed to restore a more youthful and rested appearance to your eyes. It can also improve your scope of vision if you have excessive upper eye lid skin that interferes with peripheral or superior vision. A blepharoplasty can involve the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both. Incisions are made in the natural creases in the upper and lower lids and are very well hidden once healed. The surgery typically involves some skin removal and re-suspension of the muscle and fat surrounding lids.
Operation Time:
It takes 1-2 hours depending if just upper lids or both upper and lower lids are being addressed.
Type of Anesthesia use:
This surgery is usually done under local anesthesia or sedation
Hospital/clinic stay:
No hospital or clinics stay for this type of surgery.
Days to stay in Thailand:
At least 7 days.
Risks and Complications:
Complications are rare; however there are risks associated with any medical procedure. Possible complications include: infection, bleeding (rare) but can cause loss of vision, prominence of the scars, asymmetry in healing or scarring, dryness, decrease sensation in the eyelid, difficulty closing the eyes, or any reaction to anesthesia and in rare instances blindness. You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your plastic surgeon, both before and after your eyelid surgery.
Recovery Period:
While not a very painful operation, there is a fair amount of bruising and swelling which can last 1-2 weeks. Sutures are generally removed 4-7 days after surgery and make up can be worn once the stitches are out. Contact lenses can usually be worn about 2 weeks after surgery.
Preparation Prior To Surgery:
  • Medical history assessment (any allergies, serious medical condition and all medications taken both prescribed and non-prescribed), physical examination, and laboratory tests will be performed during consultation.
  • Avoid smoking   for about 3-4 weeks prior to surgery, as nicotine interferes with circulation and will greatly affect healing process.
  • Stop drinking alcohol, a week before the surgery and throughout your recovery period.
  • Taking any medications should be avoided such as hormones, anticoagulants, anabolic steroids and supplements at least 4-6 weeks to prevent complicating medical factors prior to surgery, and also avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.
